“Paese che vai, Dante che trovi”, a video journey around Tuscany in the Divine Comedy
The project devised by the “Do’ si va?” youth group is also a finalist in the European Citizen’s Prize
“Paese che vai, Dante che trovi” is the new project from the Municipality of Sarteano, in partnership with in Do’ si va? and Nuova Accademia degli Arrischianti to rediscover the places and municipalities in Tuscany that Dante mentioned in his Divine Comedy. These places are presented in a contemporary style with short videos.
The project has covered the municipalities of Sarteano and Monteriggioni (in the Siena province), Fiesole (in the Florence province), Santa Fiora (in the Grosseto province) and Pisa, but the journey continues.
The places shown in the videos come to live as an actor recites verses from the epic poem.
Finalist in the European Citizen’s Prize
The “Do’ si va?” project devised by three young Tuscans, Francesco Pipparelli, Alessio Rossi and Virginia Scaramelli, has reached the final stages of the European Citizen’s Prize. The ceremony was held in Rome on October 15 at the European Parliament headquarters in Italy. The European Citizen’s Prize aims to recognize initiatives that contribute to European cooperation and the promotion of shared values across the European Union. The ten finalists received a plaque, in this case for the Tuscan project, which read as follows: For the dedication shown to encourage multicultural exchange and supporting tourism. For sharing the region’s stories, a return to normal life and for overcoming these difficult times.”
“Do’ si va?” is a project that came about during lockdown. During its first year, the young ideators went in search of places close to home, in order to promote local tourism. In doing so, they used informal formats to document, explore and interview.
