Launched by Edifir-Edizioni Firenze, the works will be published in a catalogue
The Divine Comedy details fantastic scenarios and reveals extraordinary stories: the tercets of the famous poem are the designated source of inspiration in order to participate in the first edition of the “Graficamente Dante” competition. Launched by the Edifir-Edizioni Firenze publishing house with the patronage of the Municipality of Florence and the 700Dante Committee, the competition is open to artworks that relate to the Divine Comedy. It’s a competition that’s open to all, with works realized using various techniques: oil, tempera, acrylic, ink, vinyl, watercolor, graphite, pencil, collage. Not only those: digital works are also allowed.
The awards ceremony
Participants will have to choose a tercet of the Divine Comedy and interpret it as they see fit. The interpretation of the theme and the originality of the realization will be evaluated in order to declare a winner.
There are three prizes up for grabs: the first prize is 500 euro, second place is 250 euro and third is 150 euro. They will be announced in mid-December during a public ceremony. The jury will select the most deserving works, which will be included in a catalogue that will be published by Edifir-Edizioni Firenze. All the works presented will have the opportunity to be exhibited in a virtual exhibition on the publishing house’s social channels.
The jury will be composed of illustrators, art historians, graphic designers, historians, teachers and journalists who will select the winning tercet.
Registration must take place by July 23, while the works must be delivered by September 15. The rules and forms to participate can be found on the Edifir website in the section https://www.edifir.it/ registra- tion-bando/.
